Adelaides is located within walking distance of the city centre, and therefore easily accessible on foot, by public transport or by car. Below you will find more detailed information depending on the way you would like to travel.

Driving directions & Parking information

Travelling West on the M8 (from Stirling, Edinburgh, Carlisle, M80, M74)
Exit from the outside lane of the M8 at Junction 18 (Charing Cross). Thereafter stay in the inside lane, and turn left onto Sauchiehall Street at the first set of lights. At the second set of lights, turn right into Pitt Street. Adelaide’s is one block along Pitt Street, on your left, at the corner with Bath Street. Street parking (metered) is available locally, and the Guest House entrance is on Bath Street.

If you need to drop off passengers or luggage directly outside the Guest House (Bath Street Entrance), then continue along Pitt Street, turning first left into West Regent Street, left again into Douglas Street, and left again onto Bath Street. Adelaide’s is 100 metres down Bath Street on your left. Please observe local traffic restrictions when dropping off.

Travelling East on the M8 (from Greenock, Glasgow Airport, Kilmarnock, M77,or Prestwick Airport)
Exit from the inside lane of the Kingston Bridge at Junction 19 (City Centre). This exit crosses the motorway via a flyover, and becomes Bothwell Street. At the first set of traffic lights, turn left uphill into Pitt Street, and straight across at the next set of lights (St. Vincent Street). 200 m further uphill along Pitt Street, branch right onto West George Street, and turn first left into Douglas Street (at Blythswood Square). Cross over the next junction (West Regent Street) and turn left onto Bath Street at the next junction. Adelaides’s is 100 m down Bath Street on your left. Street parking (metered) is available locally, and the Guest House entrance is on Bath Street.

Parking
We do not have car parking attached to Adelaides, however secure car parking is available nearby behind the King’s Theatre, 3 blocks away, in the Charing Cross Car Park. This costs £1 from 6pm to 8am then 20p per 15 mins for first 3 hours and 50p per 15 mins thereafter.

The Cambridge Street Car Park, on the other side of Sauchiehall Street, and Waterloo Street Car Park, in the other direction down Blythswood Hill, cost a similar amount.

On-street parking in the streets surrounding Adelaide’s is controlled by pay-and-display Parking Ticket Machines. These normally operate 8 am – 6 pm Monday-Saturday, and cost 30p for 10 mins, maximum stay 2 hours. Parking is free on a Sunday and from 6pm to 8am Mon to Sat.

Public Transport

Train
Intercity trains into Glasgow arrive at either Glasgow Central (trains to/from England & SW Scotland) or Glasgow Queen Street (trains to/from Edinburgh and NE/NW Scotland) Stations, and Adelaides is only a short taxi journey (£2-3) or a 10-15 minute walk away from both stations.

Bus
Most Intercity buses arrive and depart at Buchanan Bus Station (www.citylink.co.uk/timetables.html),which is only a short taxi ride (£2-3) or a 10-15 minute walk from Adelaide’s.

Bus numbers 11, 18, 23, 42, 44, 51, 57 and 59 stop close to our door travelling West; and on Sauchiehall Street (between Pitt Street and Douglas Street) travelling East.

Air
Glasgow Airport is just 8 miles (12 km) from Glasgow City Centre. Adelaides can be reached by taxi (approx. £20), a regular bus shuttle service (Flyer – £4.20 single journey) to Buchanan Street bus station, or shuttle-bus from the airport to Paisley Gilmour Street for train to Glasgow Central station.

An alternative bus service operates from the Airport – a number 747 or 905 – First Bus – these travel along Sauchiehall St and Bath St and so are much closer to Adelaides. However the route they use is more circuitous and may therefore take a little longer especially at peak periods. However it is cheaper at only £2.90 for the single journey. The 747 service may also be of interest to guests as it pass places of interest like the Braehead Shopping Centre, Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Kelvingrove Park, and Charing Cross.

Prestwick Airport is 35 miles (50 km) from Glasgow. A direct train service links Prestwick Airport and Glasgow Central Station.

Walking directions

Adelaides is very central to Glasgow’s main transport locations. Walking to Adelaides from any of the following will take no more than 10 minutes (as long as you don’t stop at too many shops on the way !!).

From Glasgow Central Station,

Leave the Station by the Hope St exit, turn right and walk uphill up Hope St, till you reach Bath St, turn left and walk along Bath St till you reach 209 which is on the left.

From Queen Street Station

Leave the station by the exit to Dundas St. Turn right uphill to reach Cathedral St. Turn left and follow Cathedral St which becomes Bath St until you reach 209 which is on your left.

From Buchanan Bus Station,

Exit the Bus Station towards Buchanan Galleries and the Royal Concert Hall. This is Killermont St. Turn right and then first left on to West Nile St. At the next corner, you will meet Sauchiehall St which at that point is pedestrianised. Turn right along Sauchiehall St and walk along it until the pedestrian precinct stops. Turn left into Blythswood St then first right into Bath St. Adelaides is on the left at 209.
